What is a BID?
A Business Improvement District is a
formal organization made up of property owners and commercial tenants
who are dedicated to promoting business development and improving an
area’s quality of life. BIDs deliver supplemental services such as
sanitation and maintenance, public safety and visitor services,
marketing and promotional programs, capital improvements, and
beautification for the area - all funded by a special assessment paid by
property owners within the district.
About the BID Association
The NYC BID Association is a 501(c)6,
non-profit membership organization comprised of the leaders of NYC's Business
Improvement Districts. The mission of the Association is to COMMUNICATE,
COORDINATE, and ADVOCATE. The Association communicates important information, ideas, and best practices
among its members; coordinates interaction between BID directors and key contacts, elected officials, and City
representatives; and advocates on behalf of its membership on important issues to support the work of and further the goals of BIDs citywide.
